China boosts import of Azerbaijani products y-o-y

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13

The goods worth $115.8 million were exported from Azerbaijan to China in the first 3 months of 2021, which surged by 63.4 percent compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports referring to the statistical bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

Accordingly, the share of China in the total export of Azerbaijan increased from 1.68 to 2.8 percent.

“Meanwhile, imports of Chinese products to Azerbaijan for the reporting period amounted to $312.5 million, while a year-earlier - $353 million (a decrease of 11.5 percent on annual basis). The share of China in Azerbaijan's total imports amounted to 12.35 percent of the total volume, while in the first quarter of last year - 13.39 percent,” the bulletin said.

From January through March 2021, the volume of foreign trade operations between the two countries amounted to $428.2 million, which is $4.4 million, or 1 percent more compared to the same period of last year.

The balance of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China remained negative over the reporting period, amounting to $196.7 million.

Totally, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in the first quarter of this year amounted to about $6.66 billion. Of these, more than $4.13 billion (62.05 percent) accounted for exports, the remaining $2.53 billion (37.95 percent) - for imports.
