The exports through the customs of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran) have increased by 66 percent in terms of value and 237 percent in terms of volume from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to May 8, Supervisor of Sistan and Baluchestan Province Customs Office Mohammad Ali Khashi told IRNA, Trend reports.

Khashi noted that a total of 439,000 tons of goods worth $156 million were exported through the customs of Sistan and Baluchestan Province over the reporting period.

“The exported goods were mainly cement, apple, gas, fruit, dates, ceramics, iron, and steel. These goods were mainly exported to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Oman, and the UAE,” he added.

The official said that moreover, 78,300 tons of goods worth $49.6 million were imported through the customs of Sistan and Baluchestan Province within the mentioned period.

According to Khashi, the imports decreased by 37 percent in terms of value and 54 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“The imported goods were mainly wheat, bananas, spare parts, cloth, and sesame. These goods were mainly imported from Russia, Pakistan, India, UAE, and China,” he said.

The official stressed that also, 7,470 people entered the country and 8,170 left the country through the border checkpoints of Sistan and Baluchestan Province during this period.

In addition, 130,000 tons of goods, including gas, rice, spices, solar panels, were transited by 6,520 trucks to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE through the Milak, Mirjaveh, and Chabahar border checkpoints of the province. This is an increase of 668 percent in terms of the number of trucks and 670 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last year, Khashi noted.
