Iran to launch number of facilities in free trade, special economic zones

In total, 94 facilities will be put into operation in Iran's Free Trade and Special Economic Zones on May 13, Adviser to the Iranian President and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free Trade Zones of Iran Hamidreza Momeni told IRIB, Trend reports.

According to Momeni, a total of 60 trillion rials (about $1.43 billion) have been spent on these facilities. And 3,000 people will be employed after the operation of the facilities.

The secretary added that these facilities are in the tourism, oil and gas, industry, manufacturing, energy and agriculture sectors.

“No foreign investment has been made in the facilities to be put into operation on May 13, 2021. However, it is hoped that the foreigners will invest in other plans,” he said.

The adviser noted that 5 events are to be held on the operation of facilities in free trade and special economic zones in Iran from the beginning of last Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to the end of the current Iranian government (August 2021).

Momeni stressed that so far, 3 events have been held. A total of 163 facilities at a cost of 340 trillion rials (about $8.09 billion) have put into operation at these events and as a result, 13,000 people have been employed.
