The production of May blossom honey is underway in Azerbaijan, chairman of the Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association Badraddin Hasratov told Trend on June 8.
“Mayblossom honey is in great demand among the local population,” the chairman said.
"The honey production volume reached 5,000 tons in 2020 and it is planned to bring this figure up to 5,500 tons this year,” Hasratov added. “The revenues from the sale of honey in the local market increased last year but honey was rarely exported to the foreign countries in 2020."
“It is planned to increase the export of honey to the Arab countries by the end of the year,” the chairman added.
The Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association, created in early 2016, today unites 10,000 beekeepers and entrepreneurs in 50 districts of the country - 46 farms in districts and four farms in cities.
The main goals of the Association are the development of beekeeping, the solution of the current problems of beekeepers and the development of a general concept for the development of this sphere.
