Japan increases import of Azerbaijani products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10

The export from Azerbaijan to Japan in total terms amounted to $5.4 million during the first four months of 2021, which is by 2.8 times more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports on June 10 referring to the statistics bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

Japan's share in Azerbaijan's total export volume reached 0.08 percent compared to 0.03 percent as of early May 2020.

Moreover, over the reporting period, import of Japanese products to Azerbaijan amounted to about $69 million while Japan's share in Azerbaijan's total import volume increased by 0.08 percentage points for the year, amounting to 1.95 percent of the total volume.

The volume of foreign trade operations between the two countries as of early May 2021 exceeded $74.3 million, while the foreign trade balance of Azerbaijan with Japan remained negative over the reporting period, amounting to $63.5 million.

In general, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover as of early May 2021 amounted to almost $9.9 billion. Some $6.4 billion (64.33 percent) of that volume accounted for export while $3.5 billion (35.67 percent) – for import.
