Turkmenistan to introduce customs duties on waste paper export

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan plans to introduce a customs duty on the export of paper waste from August 1, 2021, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

This measure was taken in order to increase the recycling of waste paper at domestic enterprises, as well as to reduce the cost of paper products in the domestic market and to use the potential of domestic business.

From waste paper, Turkmen entrepreneurs manufacture a wide range of paper products: packaging for food and industrial products, napkins, and more.

As reported, for local entrepreneurs-exporters, the overall export trade duty will be canceled starting from January 1, 2022.

This step was taken to support entrepreneurship within the framework of the state program to stimulate export supplies from Turkmenistan. According to the plan, this will increase the volume of Turkmenistan's foreign trade and contribute to the development of domestic production.
