Iran Customs Administration shares data on Iran’s imports

Iran imported 8.4 million tons of goods worth $10.2 billion during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

Mirashrafi said that the imports increased by 34 percent in terms of value and decreased by 6 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He added that Iran imported 2.5 million tons of goods worth $3.2 billion from the UAE, 683,000 tons worth $2.2 billion from China, 888,000 tons worth $1 billion from Turkey, 239,000 tons worth $414 million from Germany and 472,000 tons of $384 million from Switzerland.

“In addition, 2.74 million tons of goods were transited through Iran within the three months. This is an increase of 121 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year," Mirashrafi said.

The official noted that Iran's trade turnover amounted to 38.4 million tons worth $20.9 billion in the first three months of the current Iranian. The trade turnover increased by 50 percent in terms of value and 25 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year. In other words, it has increased by about $7 billion in terms of value and 7.7 million tons in terms of volume.
