A department for the development of economic and trade relations with Turkmenistan has been established in the administration of the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone, Trend reports with reference to Golden Age electronic newspaper.
Sarakhs Special Economic Zone is located a few kilometers from the city of Serakhs in the northeast of Iran.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and Iran signed the Program of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran for 2021-2022.
During the videoconference on May 12, representatives of the two countries also discussed cooperation in the fields of transport and healthcare, construction of joint facilities in the context of the practical implementation of the agreements reached earlier between presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Hassan Rouhani.
It should also be noted that a new automobile bridge has opened to connect the namesake cities of Sarakhs on the two sides of the Turkmen-Iranian border. The opening ceremony was held on June 8, 2020.
