Georgian budget for 2021 provides growth of various subsidy programs - minister

The government of Georgia does not plan to extend tax breaks for businesses, said Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, Trend reports via Georgian media.

According to him, the adjusted budget for 2021 provides the growth of various subsidy programs, which will enable various private sectors to get subsidies from the government.

"Tax breaks are not presented in the budget for 2021. At this stage, the decision has been made to stimulate the economy based on specific projects, including infrastructure and agriculture. The goal is to improve access to finance," said Khutsishvili.

The government presented a draft budget adjustment for 2021.

According to the renewed project, the Georgian economy will grow at a higher rate than previously predicted - 7.7 percent. Due to this, the budget tax revenue plan is increased by 720 million lari ($228.6 million). Budget expenditures will increase by 1.1 billion lari and will become 19.5 billion lari ($6.1 million).

According to the document, the largest amount will be added to the Ministries of Health and Agriculture.

The increase in funding for specific ministries and programs is as follows:

• Healthcare – 446 million lari ($141.6 million);
• Child Social Assistance - 75 million lari ($23.8 million);
• IDP accommodation - 35 million lari ($11.1 million);
• Agricultural programs - 177 million lari ($56.2 million);
• Economy support - 55 million lari ($17.6 million);
• Improving municipal infrastructure - 220 million lari ($69.8 million);
• Education - increased by 40 million lari ($12.7 million);
• Funding for sports will increase by 30 million lari ($9.5 million);
• The budget of the Ministry of Defense will be increased by 30 million lari.
