Iran's exports of fish and fishery products increased by 9 percent in terms of value and 12 percent in terms of volume, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Chairman of Iran Fisheries Organization Isa Golshahi said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran.
Golshahi said that Iran exported about 27,000 tons of fish and fishery products worth $52 million within the mentioned period.
The deputy added that Iran also exported 85 tons of ornamental fish to Iraq, Turkey and several European countries over the 3 months. The exports of ornamental fish increased by 200 percent in terms of value and 608 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
“About 15,600 tons of various fish, 713 tons of tuna, 6,300 tons of other fishery products and more than 4,000 tons of shrimp were exported in the three months,” he noted.
Golshahi emphasized that tuna was mainly exported to Oman and the UAE.
According to him, Iran's fish imports amounted to 2,790 tons in three months. This is a 20-percent decrease compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Moreover, 25 tons of ornamental fish were imported to Iran during the first 3 months of the current Iranian year, which is a decrease of 7 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year, the deputy chairman said.
