The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan amounted to $351.8 million from January through July 2021, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Uzbek exports to Turkmenistan amounted to $ 100.9 million in the reporting period. Thus, Turkmenistan took 11th place among the importing countries from Uzbekistan.
In the reporting period of this year, Uzbekistan imported products of Turkmen manufacture for a total of $ 250.9 million and took 8th place among the importing countries from Turkmenistan.
Uzbekistan imported various Turkmen products totaling $206.6 million in 1H2021.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan told Trend earlier, in July of 2020, the Interparliamentary Friendship Group of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan (parliament) for cooperation with the Mejlis of Turkmenistan (parliament) was established.
The first meeting of the inter-parliamentary groups was held on November 30, 2020, via videoconference.
"Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan actively worked to create a regional system of efficient economic and transport corridors in 2020. Effective measures were taken for the unhindered movement of goods and cargo traveling to/or in transit through the territory of the two countries," the ministry stressed.
