Exports from Iran's Bazargan border checkpoint soar

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 1

The exports of Iran via the Bazargan border checkpoint in the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 73 percent in terms of volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Director General of Bazargan Customs Office Mojtaba Bazgir told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director general noted that 53,700 tons of goods worth about $211 million were exported through this border checkpoint over the mentioned period.

Bazgir added that the exported goods were mainly petrochemicals, agricultural products, ceramics, steel and iron products and textiles.

“Within the five months, other Iranian customs exported 498,000 tons of goods worth $713 million through Bazargan border checkpoint,” he said.

As reported, the Bazargan border checkpoint is located on the border with Turkey (Gurbulak). There are 5 border checkpoints in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province. Three of them are on the border with Turkey, one with Azerbaijan and one with Iraq.
