IDB  to launch of a full-fledged representative office in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hold a meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Mohammed Sulaiman Al-Jasser, who is in the country as part of the program of the 46th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) taking place in Tashkent on September 2, Trend reports citing Uzbek President’s press service.

An exchange of views took place on the further development of bilateral cooperation.

Mirziyoyev praised the progressive expansion of the partnership with the IDB, highlighting his important contribution and support in promoting a new program of large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan. Today, the portfolio of practical interaction includes 29 projects worth about $2.5 billion, covering the spheres of transport, housing and communal infrastructure, energy, agriculture and water management, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship and other priority areas.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the prospects for expanding the multifaceted partnership. In this context, the importance of the early adoption and implementation of a new cooperation program for 2022-2025 and the launch of a full-fledged representative office of the IDB in Tashkent, increasing the efficiency of financing instruments was emphasized.

The hope was expressed that the activities of the created fund for expanding the economic opportunities of Uzbekistan will serve as an effective mechanism for supporting private entrepreneurship initiatives, promoting the creation of new jobs and improving the well-being of the population, especially women and youth.

An agreement was reached to continue close interaction and active contacts in order to develop strategic partnership and full-scale cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IDB.
