The National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) signed a contract worth 80 trillion rials (about $1.9 billion) with the Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters related to increasing copper production at the Sungun copper complex in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) on September 14, 2021, Trend reports citing the NICICO’s website.
According to the contract, a plant with a capacity to produce 100,000 tons of LME-A grade copper cathode per year, will be built in the complex.
In addition, a plant with a capacity to produce 120,000 tons of copper anode and a plant with a capacity to produce 400,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year, will be built in the complex.
After the launch of these plants, 500 people will be employed.
