The Rostov region has a great potential to become a top exporter to Azerbaijan, Ruslan Mirsayapov, Russian Trade Representative in Azerbaijan, told Trend.
The export of the Rostov region reached almost $5 billion from January through June 2021, of which about $25 million (0.5 percent) were exported to Azerbaijan.
Over the reporting period, the export of the Rostov region amounted to $3.5 billion, of which $22 million accounted for Azerbaijan.
Thus, in annual terms, the total exports of the region increased by $1.4 billion (by 40 percent), including to Azerbaijan - by $3 million, or almost 14 percent.
Exports to Azerbaijan are growing mainly due to non-primary exports (nitrogen fertilizers, passenger cars, ferrous metal structures, sunflower oil, refrigeration equipment, and telecommunications equipment).
"Among the promising niches of cooperation between Rostov and Azerbaijan, we can single out everything related to socio-economic development, infrastructure construction, transport, and logistics. The level of competition is quite high, as this market is also interesting for Turkey, Iran, China, the European Union, and most CIS countries," Ruslan Mirsayapov added.
During a video conference with the trade representative of Russia in Azerbaijan, held at the site of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Rostov region, a presentation of Rostov companies looking for partners in Azerbaijan was held. Among them are LLC "Polimerprom", LLC "Harvest XXI", LLC "NAIS" and LLC "AMK Don".
Entrepreneurs are going to participate in future exhibitions and business missions of the two countries.
