Georgia to receive EBRD loan to renew municipal vehicle fleet

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 15

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) supports upgrade of municipal vehicle fleet in Georgian Tbilisi, Trend reports via the EBRD.

As reported, the EBRD is extending a 9.6 million euros sovereign loan for the upgrading of the city’s municipal services vehicle fleet.

The financing is provided under the Green Cities Framework 2 and is a follow-on investment from an earlier phase in which the EBRD financed the renewal of the city’s solid-waste collection fleet and transfer station, as well as the upgrading of the leachate collection system.

The new project will include the acquisition of solid-waste collection vehicles, machinery and equipment, as well as the optimization of digital routes and operations management systems.

The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in Georgia and, to date, has invested almost 4.3 billion euros in the country through 266 projects in the financial, corporate, infrastructure and energy sectors, with 79 percent of those investments in the private sector.
