Azerbaijan records growth of its foreign trade turnover in 8M2021

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover has increased from January through August 2021, Trend reports citing a report from the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to the committee, this indicator reached over $20.2 billion, up by $3.7 billion or 22.4 percent, compared to the first eight months of 2020 ($16.57 billion).

Some $12.9 billion accounted for export in the structure of foreign trade turnover from January through August this year, which is by $3 billion (31 percent) more than in the same period of 2020. The share of export reached 63.77 percent against 59.62 percent a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's imports exceeded $7.3 billion, increasing by $659 million or 9.8 percent compared to the same period of 2020 ($6.7 billion). The share of import in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 36.23 percent against 40.38 percent recorded over the first eight months of last year.

The balance of foreign trade turnover on annual basis increased by $2.4 billion or 75 percent, and, remaining positive, amounted to $5.5 billion (against $3.2 billion from January through August 2020), added the SCC.
