Azerbaijan's exports to Iran increased by 30 percent in terms of value, while decreased by 36 percent in terms of volume during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi told Trend.
According to Latifi, Azerbaijan exported 9,600 tons of goods worth $13 million to Iran in five months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Azerbaijan's exports to Iran amounted to 15,000 tons worth $10 million.
“In addition, the exports of Iran to Azerbaijan increased by 16 percent in terms of value and 21 percent in terms of volume over the five months compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he added.
The spokesman noted that Iran exported 305,000 tons of goods worth $161 million to Azerbaijan within the mentioned period. The figure amounted to 252,000 tons worth $138 million in the same period last Iranian year.
As reported, Iran's trade turnover with foreign countries amounted to 59.3 million tons worth $34.2 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 38 percent in terms of value and 14 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
So, Iran exported 45.5 million tons of goods worth $176 billion over the 5 months. The exports increased by 63 percent in terms of value and 20 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
Within 5 months, Iran imported 13.8 million tons of goods worth $16.6 billion, which is an increase of 21 percent in terms of value and decreased by 5 percent in terms of volume.
