Iran has saved more than $4 billion, using its domestic capabilities, regarding household appliances, Director General of the Power and Electronic Industries Department of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade Keyvan Gordan said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
The mentioned amount of funds was saved within several plans carried out within three years, he said.
Gordan added that howeever, two years ago, more than $2 billion was spent on the supplying of spare parts for household appliances. With a 70 percent increase in domestic production, the figure fell to $1.4 billion in the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
“Taking into account that Iran exported $140 million worth of household appliances over the last Iranian year, this figure is expected to reach $200 million in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022),” he said.
According to the director general, the countries around Iran import about $37 billion worth of household appliances a year. So, Iran can export both household appliances and their spare parts to the markets of these countries.
Gordan stressed that there are currently more than 200 companies operating in Iran in the field of production of spare parts for household appliances.
