Iran’s NICICO boosts copper production

The National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) increased copper cathode production by 5 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), thus overfulfilling the initial plan set for the mentioned period, an official of the NICICO Sad Abdi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official noted that the company produced 191,785 tons of copper cathode in 8 months, with initial forecast being 182,685 tons.

Abdi also said that about 238,000 tons of copper anode were produced during the reporting period, which is 7 percent more than planned. According to the plan, 223,000 tons of copper anode were to be produced.

Abdi stressed that the NICICO has produced about 820,000 tons of copper concentrate within the mentioned period. This is 5 percent more than planned.

“Furthermore, molybdenum concentrate production of the company also increased by 14 percent in 8 months. Thus, the NICICO has produced 5,300 tons of molybdenum concentrate for the reporting period,” the official said.

He also added that a total of about 136 million tons of minerals were extracted over eight months, which is 8 percent, more than the initial plan.
