Iran's government has distributed over 1.6 million tons of rice, sugar, and oil since the beginning of the current Iranian year (starts on March 21), in order to regulate market prices, the head of distribution and sales at the Government Trading Corporation (GTC) Hojjat Barat Ali said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Barat Ali went on to say that the distribution of these three basic goods has increased, compared to last year, and now strategic reserves are at a good level.
Since the beginning of the year, an average of 10,488 tons of rice has been distributed daily throughout the country.
Barat Ali announced that during the same period, more than 439,000 tons of sugar and over 900,000 tons of edible oil have been distributed by GTC.
According to IRNA, 294 ships carrying essential goods have arrived at Iranian ports since March.
Since the beginning of the current Iranian year, more than 6.2 million tons of basic goods have been imported by the Government Trading Company of Iran, which is expected to reach 10 million tons by the end of the year.
