Iran has provided 540 billion rials (about $12.8 million) worth of loans for the tea sector, from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022) to January 12, 2022, the Chairman of the Iran Tea Organization, Habib Jahansaz told IANA, Trend reports.
According to Jahansaz, Iran has issued loans worth 402 billion rials (about $9.57 million) to 8,000 farmers within the mentioned period.
The chairman also added that 137 billion rials (about $3.26 million) worth of loans were issued to tea farmers and tea factories for the purchase of necessary machinery and equipment.
He noted that Iran will continue to provide loans for tea farmers by the end of the current Iranian year.
Iran’s tea production amounted to 31,000 tons in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022). This is an increase of 4 percent, compared to the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).
