TEHRAN, Iran, Jan.13
Trend:
The Iranian government is delaying the decision to eliminate the subsidized exchange rate allocated to import medicine and wheat, said the head of Planning and Budget Organization, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
Eliminating the official subsidized exchange rate of 42,000 rials per USD for the import of medicine and wheat will be in the last stage of the plan, Masoud Mirkazemi noted.
"The implementation of the plan would depend on the parliament's decision. The government policy is to support people and it is considering the importance of medicine and wheat," he indicated.
Iran will officially eliminate its official subsidized exchange rate — at 42,000 rials to one US dollar — by the end of the current Iranian year on March 20, 2022. If implemented correctly, the move could help the Iranian economy find a new balance.
