Iran’s exports from West Azerbaijan Province increase

Iran’s exports from the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 32 percent in value and 42 percent in volume, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through January 20, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Supervisor of West Azerbaijan Customs Office Tohid Azarbod told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to him, a total of 1.4 million tons of goods worth $663 million were exported from the West Azerbaijan Province in 10 months.

Azarbod added that there are 9 border checkpoints and 5 border markets in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province on the border with Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Iraq.

The customs official also pointed out that other Iranian customs exported 2.75 million tons of goods worth $2.9 billion via customs of West Azerbaijan Province within the mentioned period.

"In addition,1.8 million tons of goods worth $5.8 billion were transited through the province's customs over ten months. Transit increased by 52 percent in value and 26 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year," Azarbod noted.

The customs official said that a total of 811,000 people crossed through the border checkpoints of the province in 10 months, which is an increase of 186 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
