President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree on the purchase of chemicals for crops to be grown in 2022 during an expanded meeting of the Government, Trend reports citing Turkmenportal.
In accordance with the document, the Agriculture and Environmental Protection Ministry is able to purchase chemicals from foreign companies to protect cotton, as well as wheat to be grown this year from dicotyledonous weeds, pests, rice weeds, and locusts.
These measures are being implemented to improve agricultural producers' efficiency in producing high yields while also protecting crops from diseases and pests.
Seasonal field work is currently being carried out in the
country's regions, and preparations for the spring sowing campaign
are ongoing.
Agriculture is one of Turkmenistan's most important economic
sectors. Wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beets, fodder, vegetables,
melons, fruit, and berry crops are the main types of agricultural
crops grown in the country.
In Turkmenistan, special emphasis is placed on increasing production volume. As a result, the country has increased its production of vegetables, fruits, and berries in recent years, as well as expanded its area of perennial plants, vineyards, and greenhouses.
Moreover, farmers are provided with preferential loans for the purchase of agricultural machinery and the development of agribusiness.
