Iran’s non-oil exports via Golestan Province’s customs increase

Iran’s exports through the customs of Golestan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 67 percent both in terms of value and volume, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through February 19, 2021), compared to the same period last year, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Ebrahim Hosseini told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to him, about 367,000 tons of goods worth $166 million were exported through the customs of Golestan Province in 11 months.

The director general added that the main exported goods were polystyrene, cheese, dates, iodine, pistachios, various pipes and profiles, heavy hydrocarbons, cement, tomato paste, and etc.

“These goods were mainly exported to various countries, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Bulgaria, Afghanistan, Romania, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and so on,” Hosseini said.

Hosseini also noted that Iran imported 16,800 tons of goods worth $56 million through the customs of Golestan Province over 11 months, which is an increase of 113 percent in value and 49 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“The imported goods were mainly fabric, textile equipment, electrical and electronic equipment, and so on, of which were imported from Turkey, Turkmenistan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Britain, the UAE, Vietnam, Denmark and Germany,” he said.

The director general stressed that the Golestan Province's customs revenues for the reporting period amounted to 670 billion rials (about $16 million). This is an increase of 209 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
