The activity of 453 small mines in Iran was resumed, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), Manager responsible for the restoration of small mines of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Reza Azimi said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
According to Azimi, over 11 months, Iran carried out exploration operations to resume the activity of 503 small mines in the country.
The official added that thus, the activity of 852 mines was resumed in Iran from the beginning of the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to the end of the 11th month of the current Iranian year (February 19, 2022) within the plan to resume the activity of small mines in the country.
"With the resumption of 852 mines, 13,800 people were employed. Iran has the capacity to extract over 33 million tons of minerals from these mines annually," he noted.
