TEHRAN, Iran, April 6. Iran's steel production
has been facing a decline due to power outage in the last Iranian
year (started on March 21, 2021), a member of the Board of
Directors of the Iran Steel Producers Association told Trend.
"Iran's steel producers have failed to reach the predicted 34
million tons of steel in last Iranian year due to power outage in
summer and gas cuts in winter," he explained.
"The country's total steel production was 28 million which was even
less than the 30 million tons of steel produced in 2020," he said.
"The steel export in the last Iranian year has increased due to
consumption decline."
"The purchases of steel have decreased because the people wanted to wait it out and see if the prices would decline following the possible JCPOA agreement," said the official.
