TEHRAN, Iran, April 20. Qatar ranked #13 in
terms of trade, out of 15 Iranian neighboring countries, followed
by Bahrain at #14 and Saudi Arabia at #15, Director General of Iran
Trade Promotion Organization (TPO)'s Office of Arabian and African
Countries Farzad Piltan told Trend.
"Iran's export to Qatar was $134 million last Iranian year (started
March 21,2021), 0.3 percent of the total country's export to its
neighbor countries," Piltan said.
According to statistics, Iran 's export to Qatar has declined by 20
percent, compared to the country's $167 million export in 2020.
The official pointed out that Iran's import from Qatar has
increased by 20 percent.
The main product that Iran exported to Qatar are tomatoes, cement,
watermelons, bitumen, shrimp, pistachio, agricultural products,
saffron , steel, tile and ceramics.
According to the official, Iran has imported camels for breeding, spare parts for aircrafts, various batteries, cranes, paper, parts for machinery and mobile phones from Qatar.
"Iran has not exported technical and engineering services to Qatar in recent years due to lack of Letter of Credit for Iranian companies and strong rivals from Europe, Asia and the US in the Qatari market," he explained.
