Iran's Kerman restores several abandoned mines

TEHRAN, Iran, April 25. The head of the Industry, Mining, and Trade Organization of Kerman Province Moslim Moraveji-Fard announced the restoration of about 5 mines abandoned by their owners since March, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The rehabilitated mines include 2 chromite ore mines (16,000 tons of capacity), a manganese mine (62,000 tons of capacity), an iron mine (100,000 tons of capacity) in Faryab city, and a copper mine (90,000 tons of capacity) in Jiroft city,” said Moraveji-Fard.

According to the official, the revitalization of these mines has directly created jobs for 100 people and indirectly for 300 people.

He went on to note the issuance of 25 exploration licenses, eight discovery certificates, and five exploitation licenses for mining during the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021, to March 2022).

According to IRNA, the South of Kerman Province reported proven reserves of 226 million tons of minerals.
