BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. Iranian Government Trading Corporation (GTC) has purchased a total of 67,000 tons of rapeseed from farmers under a guarantee in the country from the beginning of the current harvesting season in Iran (March 24, 2022) to May 7, the Director-General of the Internal Procurement Department of the GTC Morteza Saadati Kia said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.
The director general said that the value of the rapeseed purchased so far is 9.7 trillion rials (about $230 million).
Saadati Kia added that currently, rapeseed is being purchased from farmers in Iran’s Ilam, Bushehr, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars, Kerman and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces.
The price of 1 kg of rapeseed was set up at 150,000 rials (about $3.57 million) for the current Iranian year.
A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
