BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Iran's non-oil exports to Oman amounted to 176,000 tons worth about $74.4 million for the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said Trend reports citing the administration.
According to Latifi, the exports increased by 103 percent in value, while decreasing by 7 percent in volume, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
“Meanwhile, Iran's imports from Oman for the first month amounted to 41.3 thousand tons worth $36.7 million, which is an increase of 143 percent in value and 29 percent in volume, compared to the same month last Iranian year,” he added.
The spokesman also said that in total, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with Oman amounted to 4.19 million tons worth $1.33 billion within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). The trade turnover increased by 53 percent in value and 27 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
“Last year, Iran exported a total of 2.28 million tons of goods worth $716 million to Oman, which is an increase of 63 percent in value and 14 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year,” Latifi noted.
He added that the exported goods were mainly bitumen, urea, iron, fruits and vegetables, construction materials, food and household appliances and etc.
As for Iran’s imports from Oman for last year, the customs official pointed out that the imports amounted to 1.9 million tons worth $619 million, which is an increase of 43 percent in value and 49 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year.
Latifi stressed that Iran mainly imported corn, coal, various cooking oils and oilseeds, wheat, barley, industrial equipment, medical and dental equipment, etc. from Oman.
