Iran’s NICICO records increase in production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. The National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) has increased copper anode and cathode production by 8 percent, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2022), compared to its plan, the Managing Director of the NICICO, Ali Rostami said, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

The director said that the company produced a total of 61,685 tons of copper anode and 49,841 tons of copper cathode in 2 months.

Rostami added that the company also produced 52,545 tons of crude copper for the reporting period, which is an increase of 7 percent, compared to the plan.

“At the same time, the company produced 220,731 tons of copper concentrate within 2 months. The production increased by 9 percent compared to the plan,” he noted.

According to the director, about 33.6 million tons of minerals were extracted by the company in two months. This is an increase of 6 percent compared to the company’s plan.

“In addition, about 9.69 million tons of sulfur were also extracted within the mentioned period, which is 7 percent more than planned,” Rostami said.

Rostami also pointed out that the company produced 173,000 tons of sulfuric acid in two months. This is 35 percent more than planned.
