BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. The foundation of Iran’s ‘Shahid Soleimani’ petrochemical refinery in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) is estimated to be laid in the near future, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari told reporters on June 29, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

Salari noted that the final decision to build the petrochemical refinery was made on June 28. For this purpose, about 438 hectares of land near the gas condensate refinery of the Persian Gulf Star Company in the Hormozgan Province have been allocated.

“After fully launch, the Shahid Soleimani petrochemical refinery will process 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day and produce a number of petrochemical products, including benzene, p-Xylene, butane, polypropylene and others,” he added.

The CEO also said that the share of the NIORDC in the mentioned refinery will be 20 percent.

According to Salari, this petrochemical refinery will be the first of its kind in Iran's oil refining and petrochemical industry. The purpose of building this plant is to reduce the sale of oil in crude form and earn more by producing final products.
