BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. Generally, Iran imported 14 million tons of goods worth about $21.7 billion, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Alireza Moghaddasi said at a press briefing on August 27, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The official said that Iran’s imports increased by 19 percent in value while decreasing by 8.5 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Moghaddasi added that the imported goods were mainly wheat, rice, mobile phones, cooking oils, soybeans and compressed soybeans.

According to him, the mentioned goods were mainly imported from the UAE, China, Türkiye, India and Russia

“Furthermore, 6 million tons of goods were transited through Iran for 5 months, which is an increase of 25 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the director general noted.
