BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. Iran’s petrochemical exports accounted for 44 percent of the country’s total non-oil exports for the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman noted that Iran exported about 16.6 million tons of petrochemical products worth $9.14 billion in 5 months.

“Iran’s petrochemical exports for 5 months increased by 38 percent in value, while decreased by 12.6 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he added.

According to Latifi, petrochemical products ranked the top five in Iran's total non-oil exports.

The customs official said that 2.27 million tons of liquefied propane worth about $1.65 billion were exported over 5 months, which is increase of 188 percent in value and 59 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“In addition, 3.98 million tons of methanol worth $1.24 billion were exported from the country in five months, which is an increase of 43 percent in value and 12 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year” he said.

Latifi pointed out that Iran also exported 3.17 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) worth $961 million, 1.55 million tons of urea worth $958 million, and 1.32 million tons of liquefied butane worth $940 million in 5 months.
