BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. Iran’s Moghan Agro-Industry and Livestock Company, operating under the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, is directly interested in the export of agricultural products, Executive Director of the company Ghasem Mohammadi told Trend.

According to Mohammadi, the company has yet to directly export its goods - so far its products have been exported by businessmen and other corporate companies involved in exports.

“Whereas, the company is currently working on strengthening marketing and international trade. In the near future, the company plans to export its products directly,” he added.

Mohammadi said that the company has 2,300 hectares of horticulture areas. A number of fruits, including nectarines, peaches, sour cherries, cherries, sour plums, hazelnuts, almonds and peanuts are grown there.

Mohammadi noted that about 9,000 tons of fruits grown by the company were exported to Russia and other neighboring countries in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

He also pointed out that the company grows sugar beet on an area of about 2,000 hectares, as well as it cooperates on the cultivation of sugar beet on an area of about 2,000 hectares in Ardabil, Meshkinshahr counties of Ardabil Province, Urmia and Miandoab counties of West Azerbaijan Province.

“The company's sugar processing plant has capacity to process 5,000 tons of sugar per day. Processed sugar is sold within the country at the price determined by the Iranian Government Trading Corporation (GTC),” the official said.

Mohammadi stressed that the company cultivated tomatoes on the area of 100 hectares over the last Iranian year. At the same time, the company bought tomatoes grown by local farmers on 50 hectares of land. The cultivated and bought tomatoes are sent to company’s tomato paste production plant for processing, and then exported to Russia.

Iran’s Moghan Agro-Industry and Livestock Company’s annual production is around 800,000 tons.
