Iran's pharmaceutical imports increase – IRICA

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 14. Iran's imports of pharmaceuticals and raw materials for drug production increased by 13 percent in value and 29 percent in volume from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022) to November 12, 2022, compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Morteza Emadi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman said that in overall, 763,000 tons of pharmaceuticals and raw materials for drug production worth about $2.9 billion for pharmaceuticals production were imported to Iran within the mentioned period.

Emadi also added that there are currently a total of 57,500 tons of pharmaceuticals and raw materials for drug production in Iranian customs. Of this, 35,000 tons are in the customs of Imam Khomeini port, and 15,600 tons is in the customs of Shahid Rajaee port.

Generally, Iran imported 19.7 million tons of goods worth $31.7 billion during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), which is an increase of 14.4 percent in value, while a decrease of 15.7 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
