BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. Overall 2.45 million tons of crops are expected to be harvested in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the north-east of the country for the current planting year (September 23, 2022 through September 22, 2023), Director of the Agricultural Department of Sistan and Baluchestan Province Mohammad Reza Hosseini said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He made the remark at a meeting dedicated to the development of agriculture sector in the province.
According to Hosseini, a total of 33 types of crops will be cultivated on 155,000 hectares of land in the province for the current planting year. About 1.06 million cubic meters of water are needed to irrigate the mentioned areas.
“At the same time, 110,000 hectares of land were cultivated in connection with the autumn season,” he added.
The director noted that the Sistan and Baluchestan Province Agricultural Department is taking steps to provide farmers with seeds, various fertilizers, agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as insurance of cultivated areas, guaranteed purchase of products, and etc.
