BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. More than 104 tons of bony fish have been caught from the Caspian Sea in Iran’s Golestan Province in the north-east of the country, from the beginning of the fishing season in the Caspian Sea in Iran (October 9, 2022 to January 20, 2023), Deputy Director of Golestan Province Fisheries Department, Mohsen Yahyaei said, Trend reports referring to Iran Fisheries Organization’s website.

“Over 98.1 tons of bony fish caught in the province for the reporting period accounted for mullet, and the rest for other bony fish species,” he said.

The deputy director also added that a total of 18 companies with 813 fishermen caught bony fish in three counties of the Golestan Province within the mentioned period.

As reported, fishing in the Caspian Sea in Iran begins in early October and lasts until April 20.

Meanwhile, Iran caught a total of 9,714 tons of various bony fish in Caspian Sea during the last fishing season (October 7, 2021 through April 20, 2022) in the country. This is decrease of approximately 14 percent compared to the previous season. So, the figure stood at 11,061 tons in the previous season.
