BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 26. A total of 1.67 million tons of goods worth $1.59 billion were imported through the customs of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the south-east of the country, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), Supervisor of Sistan and Baluchestan Province Customs Office Mohammad Ali Khashi told reporters, Trend reports referring to ISNA.

According to the official, the imports via the province’s customs for the reporting period increased by 40 percent in value, while decreasing by 18 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“The imported products were mainly wheat, rice, corn feed, barley feed, mangos, bananas, sesames, potatoes, various fabrics, tea, auto spare parts, truck tires and etc.,” he said.

Khashi added that the mentioned goods were mainly imported from Russia, Pakistan, France, Germany, India, Brazil, the UAE, China, Thailand, the Netherlands, Kenya and Afghanistan.

In general, Iran imported 31 million tons of goods worth $48.5 billion within the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023). This is an increase of 16.8 percent in value, while a decrease of 6 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
