BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Iron ore production from Iran’s Sangan Iron Ore Complex in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran), increased by 143 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

During 10 months, approximately 18.5 million tons of iron ore were extracted from the complex.

At the same time, 41.2 million tons of waste were extracted from the complex in 10 months. This is an increase of 208 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Moreover, the complex sold 12.6 million tons of iron ore in 10 months. The sales increased by 161 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The Sangan Iron Ore Complex operates under the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). There are 7 mines in the complex. The Sangan Complex is considered one of the 10 largest iron ore fields in the world. The complex has 1 billion tons of iron ore reserves.
