BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. As many as 147,000 tons of non-oil products worth approximately $92 million were exported through Iran’s Mehran customs in the Ilam Province (western Iran), for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), Director General of Ilam Province Customs Office Rouhollah Gholami told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director general said that Iran’s non-oil exports through Mehran customs for the first month increased by 11 percent in value compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.

Gholami added that the main exported goods were vegetables, ceramics, iron ore, cement, metal products, petrochemical products and etc.

According to him, the mentioned goods were exported to various countries, mainly Iraq.

The customs official also noted that in total, 3.26 million tons of non-oil products worth $1.6 billion were exported through Mehran customs within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 39 percent in value and 44 percent in volume compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

Iran’s Mehran customs is on the border with Iraq. The customs is located approximately 230 kilometers from Baghdad. By the end of the current Iranian year (20 March 2023), Iran is expected to export more than 3.5 million tons of non-oil products through the mentioned customs.

Overall, Iran exported more than 122 million tons of non-oil products worth approximately $53.2 billion over the last Iranian year, which increased by 10 percent in value, while it did not change in volume compared to the preceding year.

Meanwhile, Iran's total non-oil trade turnover for the last Iranian year amounted to over 159 million tons worth approximately $113 billion. The trade turnover increased by 11.2 percent in value compared to the preceding year.
