Iran puts over 40 new mines put into operation during March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4. As many as 44 mines were put into operation in Iran’s South Khorasan Province in the north-east of the country, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Head of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of South Khorasan Province, Hamid Hassan Nejad told IRNA, Trend reports.

“In total, approximately 2.7 trillion rials (about $64.3 million) has been spent on the launch of the mentioned mines, and as a result, 416 people were employed,” he said.

Hassan Nejad added that the mentioned number of mines has 142 million tons of mining reserves and the total area is 224 kilometers. Approximately 564,000 tons of mining minerals can be produced from these mines per year.

The official noted that the minerals of these mines include precious metals, bentonite, copper, manganese, travertine and others.

In general, there are 741 mines in Iran’s South Khorasan province of Iran. The mentioned mines have a total of 6.9 billion tons of mining reserves, and account for about 13 percent of Iran's total mineral reserves. There are 57 types of mining minerals in the province's mines, including coal, precious metals, iron ore, copper, dolomite, travertine and others.
