BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Iran's raw steel production increased by 6 percent for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
During the 1st month, Iran produced a total of 3.06 million tons of raw steel, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the country’s raw steel output stood at 2.89 million tons in the same month of the last Iranian year.
In addition, approximately 1.85 million tons of steel products were manufactured in Iran within the first month. This is an increase of 1 percent compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.
So, the figure stood at 1.83 million tons in the same month in the last year.
At the same time, Iran produced 3.4 million tons of sponge iron in the 1st month, which is an increase of 5 percent compared to 3.24 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
