BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6. The value of Iran’s imports through the customs of Markazi Province, increased by 116 percent during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Director General of Markazi Province Customs Office Alireza Sadeghi said, Trend reports.

“In 2 months, about 43,000 tons of goods worth approximately $135 million were imported through the customs of the province,” Sadeghi said.

The customs official added that the imported goods include lids of aluminum cans, anti-oxidants, carbon, pharmaceuticals and etc.

According to him, the mentioned goods were mainly imported from the UAE, China, Türkiye, India and Germany.

The director general also pointed out that the province's customs revenue for the reporting period stood at approximately 745 billion rials (about $17.7 million), which is an increase of 190 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Overall, Iran imported 4.73 million tons of goods worth $7.94 billion for the first 2 months of the current Iranian year. This is a decrease of 4.79 percent in value and 8.7 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.
