Iran records quarter drop in weekly sales at its mercantile exchange

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. In total, 3.02 million tons of goods worth 205 trillion rials (about $4.88 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME), during the last Iranian week (June 3 through June 8, 2023), Trend reports.

The sales have decreased by 25.7 percent in value compared to the preceding Iranian week (May 27 through June 1, 2023).

Meanwhile, 3.29 million tons of goods and 150 passenger cars worth 276 trillion rials (about $6.57 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding Iranian week.

Last week, 2.72 million tons of goods worth approximately 148 trillion rials (about $3.52 billion) were sold in IME's industrial and mining products section.

The main products sold in this section included cement, iron ore, steel, sponge iron, aluminum, copper, lead, molybdenum concentrate and etc.

Furthermore, about 251,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 54.2 trillion rials (about $1.29 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week.

The main products sold in this section were bitumen, vacuum bottom, polymers, chemicals, lube cut, base oil, petroleum products, sulfur, etc.

At the same time, 48,400 tons of various products worth 3.22 trillion rials (about $76.7 million) were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.
