BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. Iran aims to attract 2.53 quadrillion rials (about $60.2 billion) worth of investments to the industrial sector of Hormozgan Province, in the south of the country, during the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Hormozgan Province, Khalil Ghasemi said, Trend reports.

According to Ghasemi, 1 quadrillion rials (about $23.8 billion) was attracted to the industrial sector in the province for about 3 months (March 21 through June 21, 2023), which accounted for 40 percent of the targeted investments.

The chairman added that Iran’s Hormozgan Province has great potential in the field of energy, gas, and electricity, and investments are expected to focus more on these sectors.

“Over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), approximately $2 billion worth of non-oil products were exported from the province. This shows that the export potential of the province is greater,” he said.

Ghasemi also pointed out that the production capacity of 111 industrial enterprises in the province increased last year, and as a result, 24 million tons were added to the province’s production capacity. Also, the activity of 48 enterprises was resumed in the province for the reporting period.

In total, 1.63 quadrillion rials (about $38.9 billion) were invested in Iran's Hormozgan Province, during the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023). In this regard, the province ranks first among Iranian provinces.
