BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. Local pick-up truck manufacturing in Iran increased by 52.5 percent, during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
Over 5 months, 61,999 pick-ups were manufactured in the country, while this figure stood at 40,658 in the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the report of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.
Meanwhile, in the 5th month alone (July 23 through August 22, 2023), Iran’s pick-up truck manufacturing amounted to 11,436 units. This is an increase 54.5 percent compared to 7,399 units in the same month last Iranian year.
Overall, 125,507 pick-ups were manufactured in Iran for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 56 percent compared to 80,243 units in the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
