Iran’s Markazi Province records two-fold growth in volume of imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. The imports of Iran’s Markazi Province increased by 64 percent in value and 100 percent in volume in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director General of Markazi Province Customs Office Alireza Sadeghi said, Trend reports.

More than 154,000 tons of goods worth around $469 million were imported through the customs of the province in six months, according to Sadeghi.

The director general added that the main imported items were lids of aluminum cans, anti-oxidants, carbon, pharmaceuticals, and others.

He said that the mentioned goods were imported from 47 countries, mainly the UAE, China, Türkiye, Iraq, and Germany.

Sadeghi also said that the province’s customs revenues reached 3.4 trillion rials (about $81.2 million) in six months, which was a 41 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Overall, Iran imported 17.6 million tons of goods worth $30.4 billion in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023). This is an increase of 11.6 percent in value and 6.89 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
